Master 2 - Advanced Communication Systems (ACS)
The advanced communication systems (ACS) master is a joint teaching program lead by 4 engineering schools in Toulouse (France) area: ENAC, INPT/ENSEEIHT, INSA and ISAE-SUPAERO (under the patronage of Univ. Paul Sabatier). It consists of several additional teaching units (see below and here), scheduled during the last-year of the engineering program.
Our intent is to expand our students’ background to face upcoming challenges in communication systems (e.g., get prepared for R&D within the industry or continue as a PhD student).
Key features
Deepen your skills in communications
Discover state-of-the-art techniques such as neural network based decoders, network virtualization functions. Get acquainted with modern application fields, including 5G, IoT, satellite and interplanetary communications.
Enjoy an active learning environment
More than 70 % of the classes consist of blended-learning, practicals and project-based learning.
Get started with scientific communication
Perform an bibliography review, reproduce, criticize research outcomes. Write a conference-like paper and present it to your peers. Decide to go for a PhD ?
Program at a glance
ACS is a second-year master program awarded by 60 ECTS; it consists of pooled teaching units within the engineer program (classes and end-of-studies internship - 48 ECTS) as well as original teaching units (see below and detailed program here). Those extra classes (around 72h) are scheduled on Thursday afternoon, from mid-October to the end of February.
Technical track (36h - 6 ECTS)
To be chosen between "physical-layer" and "computer networks".
Track physical-layer | Track computer networks |
---|---|
Coding and security | Delay Tolerant Networks |
Advanced waveform design | The Edge of the Internet of Things |
Research project (32h - 6 ECTS)
It includes a state-of-the-art study, reproduction of literature results, contribution, written and oral communication on the topic. The most accomplished projects may be submitted to real conferences !
Application and registration
Applicants must be last-year students of a supporting engineering school (ENAC, INPT/ENSEEIHT, INSA, ISAE-SUPAERO). Additionally, they must be enrolled in one of the following options:
- at ENAC, both SAT and AVI options are suitable, provided a "telecom/network"-oriented second-year project;
- at INPT/ENSEEIHT, option "télécommunications sans-fil et objets connectés";
- at INSA Toulouse, pathway "innovative smart systems";
- at ISAE-SUPAERO, option "informatique, télécommunications et réseaux".
Both Dipl.Ing. candidates and students in academic exchange may apply, if they hold 240 ECTS (or equivalent).
The end-of-studies internship must focus on a technical field (both academic research and industrial R&D are usually fine). As a guideline, the technical report and the defense shall include the following content: state-of-the-art, problem statement, proposed methodology, discussion, future work.
Tuition fees may apply. They are usually below 170 €, depending on your economic situation and engineer school affiliation.
Application deadline (academic year 2023/2024): 27-Sep-2023.
